Nedging Hall Owned By The Buckle Family

Brian & Gill Buckle first bought the house in 1986. Having slowly moved North from originally living in London to Essex and then coming to Suffolk where they bought Dairy Farm, Nedging Hall then came on the market.

The Buckle Family of Nedging Hall

They moved with their son and daughter, James and Joanna. Joanna has now moved to Canada, with her husband after getting married at Nedging Hall in 2000. Joanna visits with her family often, and loves coming to see Nedging Hall and the gardens when they visit.

James lives with his family, in the neighbouring village of Semer. James oversees the environmental projects across the Estate and can often be seen riding and walking around the fields. He also runs the family’s main business interests and is heavily involved with several local charities, helping with fundraising efforts and the running of them.

After Gill’s passing in 2020 it was decided to complete a full renovation of the property and to run Nedging Hall as part of the family’s hospitality business.

James’s son, Charlie, runs Nedging Hall Estate which looks after Nedging Hall, 3 unique pubs and Mauldons Brewery.

His first job was washing dishes at The Lindsey Rose, one of the Estate’s pubs. He later returned to live at the same pub and ran the business.

Having now purchased Mauldons Brewery, The Brewery Tap and brought The Bildeston Crown back under own-management. There is a far greater team that runs the day-to-day operations of each venue, overseen by Charlie.
